Pack Count
There is no guaranteed pack count for a chase card. The useful question is not how many packs you should expect on average, but how many packs you are willing to open before buying the card instead.
Expected packs needed is an average over time. It is not a promise that you will hit the card by that number of packs.
That is why HiddenSnags also shows hit chance after a chosen number of packs and the pack counts for stronger confidence levels.
A real plan starts with a budget, not a dream outcome. Decide how many packs you are willing to open first, then check the hit chance at that point.
If you would be unhappy missing after that many packs, that is a sign the single is probably the cleaner move.
Every additional pack feels like it might fix the problem, but the spend keeps rising even when the card still does not show up.
That is why a chase can move from fun to inefficient very quickly, especially on premium cards.
